PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE PLACEMENT DIGITAL PORTFOLIO

Welcome to my Professional Experience Placement Portfolio, which highlights my professional development, learning opportunities, and teaching methods while I was on placement at Lighthouse Early Learning Centre in North Strathfield. This portfolio complies with the requirements of the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) Version 2.0 and the National Quality Framework (NQF) and was created as a living document to highlight my interactions with children, families, and colleagues.

This placement has  provided me with a meaningful opportunity to develop and demonstrate my knowledge, skills, and values that is required to be an early childhood teacher. It helped me to deepen my understanding of curriculum, pedagogy, as well as play-based learning, while applying theoretical knowledge to practice through observation, documentation, and planning. I actively engaged with intentional teaching, child-initiated experiences, and respectful relationships, which are all key principles of the EYLF (Australian Government Department of Education, 2022).

 

Through this portfolio, I will present evidence of my alignment with the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers, specially focusing on Professional Knowledge, Professional Practice, and Professional Engagement (AITSL, 2017). My reflections are based on real experiences from the placement and are connected with key frameworks, such as the Early Childhood Australia (ECA) Code of Ethics (ECA, 2016) and the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC)(United Nations, 1989), making sure that children’s rights, wellbeing, and agency remain focus to my teaching approach.

As an emerging early childhood educator, I am dedicated to ongoing learning, ethical practice and critical reflection. This portfolio highlights my ability to create inclusive, responsive, and culturally respectful learning environments that supports children’s belonging, being, and becoming.
